Surrounding area
Croatia is a lovely holiday spot with a great climate. The Croatian people
are warm-hearted and hospitable (and most of them can speak English,
especially the younger people). The food is delicious – lots of fish and
grilled meat, and with many Italian influences (pizza`s, pasta`s).
In the immediate surroundings of our house (1 – 5 km) you will find many
beautiful (pebble) beaches, a crystal clear blue sea, many restaurants
serving local dishes, Italian food and sea food, cultural places of interest
and many possibilities for recreation such as walking, playing tennis, water
sport, diving, midget golf, fun fairs for children, boat excursions along the
coast and day trips by boat to nearby Venice. And last but not least, at
about 3 km from the house you will find the beautiful city of Pula with its
history going back to Roman times and before. It has a charming centre
with lots of restaurants, pavements and a great variety of shops.
Furthermore, you will find lovely picturesque places to visit in the surrounding area, such as Premantura, Medulin, Porec, Rovinj, Hum, Motovun. At about a 1.5 hour drive by car, you can visit caves with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. Also highly recommended is a visit to the Plitvice Jezere (the Plitvice Lakes). It takes about a 4-hour drive, but the beautiful nature reserve with its countless waterfalls makes it absolute worth the drive.

Please note that Ryan Air has frequent direct (and rather friendly-priced!) flights from London Stansted to Pula. From Pula Airport to our house it takes about a 15-minute drive.
